Generation y is all about the helping environment. This generation is by far the most eco–friendly, environment loving generation yet. “Green is in.” There are now clothing brands dedicated to being eco–friendly, along with shampoo’s, soaps, cleaning products, cosmetics, jewelry, and plenty more. Recycling is now considered hip, which is bringing more and more people into this trend. It is advertised now if something is made from recycled items or when a company goes green. But not only is it recycling that generation y is doing but also producing more environment friendly cars and informing more people about people about the impact of green house gases. There are many websites made especially for teaching us how to live more eco–friendly lives and at times one can catch a special on television about it.
The Expert answers:
Generation Y
Never start a sentence with “But”. Instead write, “Generation Y is not only recycling, but they are also producing more environmentally friendly cars and informing more people about the impact of green house gases.
Break up the last sentence into 2 sentences OR “There are many websites and television specials made especially for teaching us how to live more eco-friendly lives”

Getting rid of cat fleas?
I have already flea bombed my apt once. My cats have frontline and the fleas aren’t on them anymore. What can I wash my clothes with and my self to make sure I am not transporting the eggs with me? Is there anything I can spray? Preferably eco friendly I hated having to use all these pesticides.
The Expert answers:
There really is nothing that will control fleas as well as insecticides.
Before the inventions of insecticides, people who lived with animals – domestic or livestock – simply had to live with their fleas.
Today we can control fleas fairly easily and without the use of a huge amount of pesticides.
First get Frontline, Advantage, or Revolution from the vet to treat the cats. These products are intended to be used once a month to keep fleas off the cat.
Then, if you need to treat the house – which is often the case – use a product which not only kills adult fleas but also prevents eggs from hatching.
There are foggers which do not prevent eggs from hatching.
When we have bad flea years (haven’t had one in along time – knock on wood 🙂 we use Raid products for the house.
They make a fogger called Raid ® : Flea Killer Plus Fogger
http://www.killsbugsdead.com/fop_fkpf.asp
They also make an area spray called Raid ® : Flea Killer Plus Carpet & Room Spray
http://www.killsbugsdead.com/fop_fk_pc_rs.asp
We have had very good results with those products.
Remember, you want a product that not only kills adult fleas but also prevents eggs from hatching. If you use something that does not prevent the eggs from hatching, when they hatch you are back where you started.
There is a product, Capstar which is a pill you give the cat. It kills all of the fleas on the cat within about 5 hours.

It does not provide long lasting protection – it merely kills all the fleas on the cat.
You can use it to kill all the fleas on the cat and then treat the cat with Frontline, Advantage, or Revolution, and then treat the cat.
Ask your vet about Capstar and using it in combination with other products.
Capstar is available only by prescription.
We have used it to kill all the fleas on feral cats who we could not handle to apply something else. We transfer them to another cage or carrier, move them out of the room, fog the room, give them the Capstar in food, and then put them back in the main cage.
Capstar is like magic – it really will kill all of the fleas on a cat very quickly and it is safe enough that you could use it every day, if need be – though that would be an expensive way to control fleas, day to day.
Indoor cats can get fleas that people carry in on their clothes. If you think that might be happening, get an insecticide you can spray on the yard to kill fleas.
You will probably need to get a sprayer. The ones that attach to the end of a hose might be the type you could use.
Ask the people at a garden store, Lowes, or Home Depot, or similar store for help picking an insecticide and a sprayer.

Would you help me by doing this?
To promote the use of Eco–friendly materials such as organic cotton and bamboo fibers and hemp in clothing would you Please send an E-mail to one of these clothing companies and ask that they make more clothing out of these materials. E-mail companies such as Roxy, Hollister, American Eagle, Red Eye, Pac Sun and other companies that sell or make clothing for women. I know you you can make a change if we get alot of people to send E-mails. Thank you!!!

Susan asks…
Should I hang my clothes outside?
it’s eco friendly but i’m a young girl and what about my under clothes?
The Expert answers:
It’s a good way to dry things. Not only is it eco-friendly but it’s better for your clothes. Dryers often shrink clothes and fade the dyes. The heat from a clothes dryer and the violent tumbling damages fabric and shortens the life of the clothes. Another reason to hang them, if you can, is that you can save money on utility bills. If you’re concerned that someone might grab your underwear or just shy about them being seen, you could hang them on a rack inside.
