What are some good apparel websites for eco-friendly and cheap clothes that are good for farming?
I’m looking for good work clothes, but also things that are casual or nice. Hopefully not on the super expensive side, but I’m open to suggestions.
The Expert answers:
Goodwill and other secondhand shops are where i buy my clothing for farming-cheap, eco-friendly (as you are buying used thus reusing) and usually high quality. I take it you have never worked on a farm as the cloths are always casual and the work tends to ruin cloths-stains, rips, etc., pretty quickly

Ant ideas on how to make my eco-chick look better?
I want to know if anyone knows any companies that sell stylish eco friendly clothing. Like shirts that say go green and all that stuff.
The Expert answers:
I know roots sells stuff that has sayings like that on it. Some of their stuff is okay.

What’s the most Eco-friendly shopping decision?
Hi, I need some advice on how to make the most Eco–friendly clothes shopping decision I can. I’ve recently went through a growth spurt (I am one of those unfortunate people who’s major growth spurt happened in college) and all my clothes are to small. I wish to replace them with environmentally responsible alternatives. From what I’ve heard, used or organic clothing is the best choice. However, being in a small area, the only second clothes store around is 45 minutes away and seems to only carry clothes for elementary students and grandparents (so it’s out of the question), and there is NO places that carry organic clothes anywhere remotely close to me. So I’ve been looking at online sites for used and organic clothes. My question is, is it still more environmentally responsible to buy used or organic clothes (who knows their may be some used organic out there 🙂 online even though it needs to be shipped, or would it be better to buy regular new/non-organic clothes at the nearest clothes store in my area (also happens to be 45 minutes away) Also, what fabrics are the most Eco–friendly, and which are the worst. If buying’ online is my best bet, does anyone know any good sites that sell organic clothes? (and they can’t be TO expensive, I am on a college students budget.:) ) Thanks!
The Expert answers:
It sounds like shopping online is definitely your best bet. Ecomall.com and HappyHippie.com are good places to start, both comprehensive directories of eco friendly products, including clothes and shoes.
The the most eco-friendly clothing fabrics are:
•Cotton
•Bamboo
•Hemp
•Ingeo (fermented plant sugars)
•Linen
•Lyocell (wood pulp)
And the ones to avoid are:
•Acetate
•Acrylic
•Nylon
•Polyester
•Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
•Rayon
•Triacetate

Where can I find affordable organic/bamboo/eco-friendly/fair-traded or all over “green” clothing?
I’m having a hard time finding cheap (think college budget) clothing that also is good for the earth and for me. Thanks so much!
The Expert answers:
I’m on a similar quest. I’ve found a few items at a few places. Target has a new limited line with organic cotton. REI has a new eco friendly line, many items are on sale right now. I’ve seen a few items at a store called Steinmart.
You can go to treehugger.com or biggreenpurse.com and they have links to many clothes stores with eco friendly items.
The other cheap option is used or vintage. That is always a great choice. The resources have already been expended and you are saving items from the landfill. Another option to refresh your wardrobe on a budget is a swap party. You invite friends and have them bring gently used items they no longer wear and you swap with them.
My number one tip for conserving resources where clothes are concerned is to get your colors done. I have a color chart that I keep in my purse and it helps me select colors that I will look good in. Have you ever had an item that you think looks great, but you never where it, chances are it’s not a good color for you.

Looking For Jeans/clothing that are Eco-Friendly?
Give your suggestions but I want to share something I found at the Levi’s Store that was a Pair of Levi’s and T-shirts made from Organic Cotton.
The Expert answers:
The first one is 100% certified organic jeans and the last three are nice high quality hemp jeans which will last a long while. I think its cool that the jeans at Levi’s is organic cotton but i would like to see hemp jeans available there as well.
