Mary asks…

Alternative Energy?

I’m doing a very lengthy report on controversies involving alternative energy; however, I have no idea what to use as evidence against alternative energy. Any ideas or sites where I can find pros AND cons???
I found a few, but I really need a lot; aren’t there any sites?

The Expert answers:

The cons are political. Look on political web sites, or compare industry claims about how difficult it is to “develop” alternative energy to what has actually been done. Industry is more than a 100 years behind science in some areas, intentionally. But they can’t say anything against alternative energy in public. So the government diverts research funds to those who want a monopoly on all energy sources, and they do their best to make it impossible.

Helen asks…

Alternative energy?

How can we overcome the economic and politaical problems surrounding alternative energy and end our dependance on foriegn oil?

The Expert answers:

I’d follow up the last answer with suggesting a “glacial” political move.

Suggest a 100 in 100 plan for getting out of the current war.

100% of the US occupancy leaves 1% a month for 100 months. Even if elected twice, this goes past the next pres, and forces the other country to start taking command of themselves in a manageable time frame.

Along with this, switch local taxes to foreign trade %1 at a time for a 100 months, infuse local economy, making foreign trade still possible, but less desirable, and make all alternative energy sources exempt from trade taxes.

Sandra asks…

Alternative energy?

Can anyone tell me what the best new alternative energy(s) is/are?

The Expert answers:

There are alot of new ideas, but nothing as truley taken hold, as far as transportation energy. And, other alternative energies are not very popular. I think because of a few reasons.
1. It costs money and time to save the environment and until it becomes completley clear to the masses that we need to take action, it will be too much trouble until then.
2. People are resigned. People may talk a good talk, but when it comes down to it most people don’t really think it is truley possible to even make a dent into our energy problems.
3. Big business and government are not behind it yet.
If we all just take little steps and do small things, those small things will turn into making a big difference.
