Chris asks…

What education would i need to get a job in solar energy or wind energy after graduating high school?

Im fresh out of high school and am not sure what education i should be seeking next. I have heard that renewable energy is a fast growing field and would like to know what education a good job in that field would require. By a good job i mean anything from installing solar panels or repairing wind turbines. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Expert answers:

Look into electrical, electronic, and mechanical engineering. I would say the best thing that anyone could tell you is to stay versatile. Things are changing so fast in the green industry that by the time you learn one thing very well, it has become obsolete, or close to it.

If you are a self help type of person and are really interested in installing or consulting, check out a program ‘RETScreen’. This is a program that the Canadian government has put out to help consultants and estimaters plan for renewable energy conversions

Linda asks…

How are Government Jobs a “Stimulus”?

I heard Obama on the TV the other day talking about his stimulus plan, he said he wants to immediately create 500,000 jobs working to develop renewable energy.

Someone please explain to me how 500,000 new Government jobs is a stimulus for America or any other economy? How much more are we going to now be taxed to pay for these jobs and how does stimulate th the economy?

The Expert answers:

No non productive job is worth anything — government never MADE anything == governnment sucks money into its mouth — capitalism exhales jobs and needs = making money

Steven asks…

what are the majority of jobs in the renewable energy sector? (UK)?

Im hoping to study a degree in renewable energy.

What will the jobs in the sector be? mainly trades such as plumbing? construction etc?

The Expert answers:

No such degree. You need to hold degrees in engineering, electrical systems, battery storage systems, photo voltaic cells, actually it is too broad a subject for a proper analysis. At the present there is no one degree that bundles all you need under its paper. It is a multi degree field to go into.

Helen asks…

After visiting Brazil could John Boehner learn something about renewable energy and how many jobs it produces?

Or does he just like natural sunlight instead of tanning booths?
America wants Brazil and every other country to develop their oil resources because America is hopelessly addicted to oil.

The Expert answers:

Learning and Republican = an Oxymoron
that is why they oppose education
