The Expert answers:

Not sure what your asking…Solar panel installation companies? If so, than I’d say Arosa Energy- just used them. Very good service and neat job.

Ken asks…

Were the high gas prices the reason that major oil companies now invest money into alternative energy options?

The Expert answers:

Major oil companies are not investing money into alternative energy, at least not as much as they pretend to. They certainly pretend to, putting ads out there like they care, don’t they? If you look at their financial reports, their investment in energy is miniscule. But they like to keep good public relations, which is why they have so many commercials.

In reality, the oil companies are not the major investors in alternative energy. It’s the utilities that are investing in alternatives like wind. Much of the rationale is driven by fear of the high gas prices in the future; but most of it is driven by consumer demand for clean energy, state demand for clean energy and tax subsidies that make alternative energy feasible economically.

Mandy asks…

what percentage of profits do oil companies invest into alternative energy sources?or are they to short sited

The Expert answers:

No, they are smart. Although yes, they may be long sighted by investing heavily into alternative energy sources now, it would be no good until the world virtually switched to alternative energy. Microsoft, a computer systems company, done terrible until they could get people to ‘demand’ for Operating systems which was depicted during 1995 – 2000. Not only that, but the stock quotes show this, with the NASDAQ booming exponentially during the dotcom boom: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Nasdaq_historical_graph.svg
Oil companies are not looking for what is helping the environment. They are looking for the quick buck. Furthermore, the amount of oil used everyday is another reason why oil is so dominant today. America’s military and technological success came out due to the surge in oil. Plastics are made out of oil. The very computer your using has had oil used in the production process. In the film Oil Crash: A Crude Awakening, one man stated: “I don’t care if you worship Buddah or Allah or Jesus. In reality you worship oil”. That quote just goes to show how oil revolves around the everyday life of Man. And until 100+ million gas guzzlers stop being produced every day, I’m afraid to say that they will only keep investing in oil.
We also have the fear that ‘global warming’ as such may not even be happening. There have been recent studies which have shown that the Earth could just be going through it’s natural cycle. Yes, 98% scientists support the global warming is influenced by Humans hypothesis but that is BS. 99% of programmers during 1999 thought computer systems would go haywire due to the “Millennium bug” which didn’t even happen.

I could go on forever. Until demand has been caught for alternative energy, oil companies will place most of their resources and capital on oil and it’s complementary goods.

James asks…

john mccains energy plan not to provide incentives to alternative energy allows oil companies to maintain cont?

i need a good rebutal to this proposition someone please help me.!

the last word is control

The Expert answers:

Ok Hes stating we need both,Oil,and new alternative energy.
Here’s something to think about,
How long have we had Solar cells, batteries, wind turbines, and ethanol?
(answer..over 20 years or more)
Why do they all have to be subsidized by Government?
(answer, because they aren’t profitable to make it on a free market alone)
Since these alternative energies have been around for some time and haven’t produced anything that we can call reliable,we need to keep oil on the mainstream. The only Viable sources of energy are Oil,Nuclear,Coal and maybe the Hydrogen cell, but even they state that it wont be a practicable item for anything for at least 10 more years.

Thomas asks…

What problems are utility companies having to face today in providing energy for more people?

What problems are utility companies having to face today in providing energy for more people?

It could be any kind of problems.

And are there alternative energy sources that companies can use?

The Expert answers:

The first and foremost problem is the red tape put in place to making it near impossible to get any thing done. Then when you get the paper work out of the way, then all the well meaning greenies protest it and halt any progress. Then when some hot shot gets out there and say this is the way to go, people jump on the band wagon with out the slightest knowledge if this source of energy is even plausible or cost effective.
To answer your last question there are good alt. Sources but they will not be used due to trumped-up environmental regulations.
