Have you tried going to Sephora? They have a brand called PlantLove from Cargo and they have no synthetic dyes, phthalates, petrochemicals, parabens, synthetic fragrances, colours, and their packaging is recyclable and made from corn. Sounds good to me 🙂

BareEscentuals bareminerals is eco-friendly I’m pretty sure (although I don’t think all their products are), and their foundation is really great! I definitely recommend it. Also their liner shadow is also really wonderful (but the application is a bit messy) and I would also recommend it! Both do not contain parabens,sulfates,synthetic fragrances,synthetic dyes, petro-chemicals or phthalates.

And the Sephora website also has a section for Natural and Organic products, you should check it out.

my friend and I are both having baby girls (not with each other haha), and I wanted to get her some gifts that reflect her personality and sense of humor…

Like I heard about this baby swaddling blanket that looks like a taco.. haha! I tried searching for it but I couldn’t find it and my friend would get a kick out of it.

Also, she likes the Beatles and all that hippie-style stuff like peace signs and Beatles shirts and she likes eco–friendly stuff too.

Eco–friendly goods, such as hyrbid cars, solar pannels, clothing, housewares, etc., is a booming industry. How much is this “green” industry worth? How much money does this industry rake in over the course of a year?

‘Consumer Reports’ magazine, every appliance manufacturer

for companys who make this claim and slap that blue label on
their appliances. Many companys were found to put this label
on all their products across the board with no evidence that
the product is in anyway efficient. Remember,any company can label it’s product with this star and does NOT have to

These thingumyjigs claim to wash your clothes clean up to a thousand times, thus saving you loads of money.

They are environmentally friendly and contain particles (or summat) which supposedly do the job of your normal detergent.

My other half has bought one today but I am sceptical.

Do they work?

I have asked few questions, and most of them have been deleted. I asked
1. What is that gum that smells the same as RubA535?
2.Music in french that I will understand, and enjoy (I did go on for a while in this question…and it was in french)
3.French speaking people, will you quickly edit this? (and it was short a french poem)
4.Clothing brands etc. That are vegan,eco,and child labor friendly.
All of those questions got deleted!! Any idea why? A lot of people post questions like: If I was a smurf in your room what would you do? And I have no problem with this, until they delete mine and not theirs!

#3 – You want help with French, then go to a French Yahoo! Answers. It was probably a violation for not being in English
#4… That’s not a question, which makes it a violation

When you see something that is a violation (like the smurf example), sometimes they just got lucky. Other Y!A users report questions and answers. Sometimes a question or answer that is a violation just doesn’t get reported… Or get’s reported and deleted after you’ve seen it.

James Apartment

Where was Elliot? James glanced at his Cartier wristwatch as he paced though his apartment. It had been a practically hellish day at work and he needed Elliot. Initially, his proposal to a clothes retailer to invest in environmentally friendly organic cotton produced by CEC was rejected. Secondly, a scathing review of CEC was written in the New York Times. Thankfully, it only managed to score the back of the paper, but, it was still brutally ruthless. Entitled “Green-dy and Corrupt” was a bitter report of the salaries and the perks of being employed at CEC, which was suppose to be non-profit. Tailing the wage reports, was a detailed tracing of mainstream donations from nonexistent private individuals to factual CEOs and presidents of companies not known for being environmentally conscience. The writer, a right-wing extremist bitch known for her unyielding denial of global warming, hinted that these “eco-unfriendly” companies were paying off CEC to not blow the whistle on them. The most unfortunate piece of this merciless editorial was that it mentioned James by name at least three times.

To add to the stress of his day, James remembered that he would be traveling to Washington D.C that weekend. Hopefully, the nasty critique wouldn’t hinder any support of the bill he was lobbying for. Nicknamed Eco-fight, the bill was created to limit the emission of carbon by slightly increasing taxes in ratio to the carbon output of factories and large corporations. However, closer inspection revealed that the bill trickled down in smaller businesses and finally, at the last stage, households. The shrinking Party of Republicans in Congress, except for a few moderate ones, adamantly refused the bill. Most Democrats in Congress, though not all, eagerly supported it. James was determined to change the minds of those on the left who weren’t fully committed to the bill.

The caustic sting of the article left a burn on James. Immediately after reading the article, he contacted the legal department of CEC demanding that a lawsuit be issued against the writer and New York Times for libel. James, still pacing like a caged animal, realized that now, the lawsuit wouldn’t comfort him, only a tiny glass vial filled with white powder would console him. Impatiently, James tried to call Elliot. No answer. Where was he-? James heard a knock on the door and rushed to open it.

“Finally!” James moaned, hand outstretched.

“Whoa, settle down there.” Elliot laughed as he tried to walk through the door.

He handed James the bottle,

“That should last you a couple days, I’ll be back this weekend to give you more.”

“No, I’m going to Washington; I’ll be gone for a week.” James looked up from the bottle clutched in his hand with a distressed look.

Elliot hesitated, “Can you wait til-“

“No!” James cried desperately, He looked at Elliot. “I’ve had such a tough week, just look at this article.” He pleaded, handing Elliot a crumpled New York Times.

Elliot skimmed the article, the frown on his forehead deepening as he read further and further. He signed and offered James an apologetic look.

“Okay, I’ll have it to you by Thursday.” Elliot replied, trying to soothe James.

Elliot studied James, calculating how much James had changed over the years. A similar digression he had viewed in all his clients. His once tawny skin was now pale, his muscular frame gaunter, and his green eyes tired. He was still remotely young, early forties.

James watched Elliot leave his apartment, feeling slightly anxious that Elliot seemed tentative to deliver the drug on Thursday. James clenched the vial in his hand, clasping it hard-as if someone would snatch it from his hand. He moved to the kitchen, placing the bottle, a crisp dollar bill, and a credit card on the marble counter. James started using crack at the eve of his divorce to his first wife. It regularly continued through his second marriage and was eventually the reason for its demise. James was fascinated with cocaine, how is destroyed his marriage but helped to numb the pain from the separation. He creased the dollar bill, and filled it with the powder. Skillfully, he poured it on the counter into a shaky line. He carefully used the credit card to straighten the dust into a straight line. He took out his straw, and gently whiffed. His nostrils burned at first, but soon he was lulled into a gentle wave of serenity.

Without any mental effort of his own, James was able to be transported to the most halcyon period in his life. The infancy of his first marriage, back when he was nearing thirty. His wife was a rare kind of beauty, white porcelain skin unmarked by any frec

I have a project for my oceanography class and my product has to be “eco–friendly.” What household, daily items are made out of sediments.

2.) From what location on the ocean floor is it from?

Evidently no one can think of any sea floor sediments used daily. However, if the question were sedimentary rocks, then limestone has many uses from concrete to the white powder on chewing gum. Diatomaceous earth is also a sea floor sedimentary rock that is used in filters and as an ingredient in insecticides.

For the first time ever I’ve found German roaches in my house, likely because I stopped using the harsh chemicals / insect bombs / sprays. I need an EFFECTIVE green product – I have the baits already put out but they’re not helping.

If the gov. forced companies to become more eco-friendly, wouldn’t that hurt the economy?

The major complaint by environmentalists is that businesses emit massive amounts of pollution through the elimination of waste, pollution from production itself, and the vehicles they use to transport their products. Sure the government could place restrictions on emission levels, but how would they prevent the economic loss that would cause when the companies can no longer produce as they have been? Please someone lend an idea. Thanks!

Well for one thing, most likely they are going to see more money, the taxes on Gas and fuel are mostly state taxes, not federal. I agree with the environmentalists, where i live we used to get three feet of snow a week during the winter, no kidding, and now it’s spring in the winter, and it’s rare to see even two inches on the grpund at a time. I’m going to give you an exapmle on the not buying thing (well actually 2):
1. Resturaunts thought that if they banned smoking inside of the business, then the company would lose money, well guess what their profet more than doubled.
(if we lower the price of fuel, or eliminate it completely then the prices of everything would go down, thus people would buy more, because their budget would allow more.)
2. Cigarettes are 3.50 a pack, $2 of that is state and federal taxes, the amount that the government makes off of a cigarette is 700 billion and the amount used to fix lung cancer is, well what do you know 700billion.
(so instead of spending money to fix the mistakes and trying to save the environment, is costing just as much as they are aking of of fuel taxes.)

If we switch to hybrid’s or electric cars then people would not be getting sick as often, and you could actually breath in New York, the economy would be getting more money, then less.

Turn off the lights when I’m not in a room
Take short showers
Deny plastic/paper bags at store when I only have a few items
I don’t have kids which saves alot period.

If i forget my reusable bag, i use paper instead of plastic
I eat some organic
I compost
I plant and grow my own vegetables

What are good home rmedies for pesticides & herbicides?

Have aphids and white stuff on rose bushes. Have green leaf bush whose leaves are badly eaten! What home remedy (ies)or eco–friendly product can I make or buy?

Aphids seem to go after the rose buds & suck the life out of the plant. Knock them off with a strong spray of water & 1 oz. Ivory Dishwashing Liquid to 1 gallon of water (Ivory is pure soap -no phosphates).

Antidote for Rose Aphid
1 orange peel, coarsely chopped
1 tbsp. Liquid Ivory soap
2 cups water
blend on high speed for 10-15 seconds. Strain into coffee filter, & pour liquid into handheld sprayer. Hose down bushes to knock off aphids. Then mist spray the plants.

This site explains why alternating a 1oz Baking Soda to 1gal. Water solution, 1 oz. Vinegar to 1 gal water, and 1oz Sulphur to 1gal water helps control fungus.

You can also use 1part milk to 9 parts water in controlling fungus on roses. Milk has a germicidal effect–it kills the fungal spores– and it also appears to stimulate plants in such a way that they become more resistant to the disease. In recent university tests, the milk and water spray was found to be more effective than the two most popular synthetic fungicides on the market today.

Jerry Baker’s homemade control for Black spot: Spray them with a mixture of 1 tbsp. Of baking soda, 1 tbsp. Of light vegetable oil, and 1 tbsp. Of soap in 1 gallon of water.

Ladybugs will also help get rid of aphids.

Help with the Christmas list?

Mom is a-naggin’ about that Christmas list, and usually I ask for the normal 17-year-old stuff, like clothes, but I’m trying to be a little more strategic this year. I’m a senior and will be starting college next fall. I wanted to ask for practical things and keep in mind what I might buy/have money to buy/will get as a graduation present (or will be purchased with graduation money.) So far, my wants consist of a

13″ Macbook pro
Nikon D3000 plus 55-200mm and 17-55mm lens
George Foreman grill
Aluminum (eco–friendly) water bottle
External battery for my iPod Touch
16 gb Memory card
Wrinkle steamer

My parents spend usually no more than $400, so of course that knocks off the camera and computer. Those are just things I want, but will have to buy with graduation/summer job money. Of course, if I buy the camera now, I can ask for the 55-200 lens for Christmas. Although I have a wonderful point-and-shoot Sony camera, I wanted the DSLR because I’m going to France next summer and want to take fabulous pictures. However, I’m worried that I won’t use it in college (I’m going into engineering, so I’m going to be swamped with homework). So I’m a little unsure about that purchase. Most of those, I’ll obviously use when I get to college, and the memory card and charger are for France (13hr flight is a lot of movies on the iPod.) I’m also using my brother’s old Swiss Army backpack and it will hold a 13″ laptop, so that’s not something to worry about. I have all of the basics (phone, iPod, camera) and I never have time to watch movies or tv or play games. I also don’t want a Kindle because I’d just rather check out books from the library than buy them.

I would ask for college gear, but I’m not sure where I’m going.

How can i keep warm? Advice please!?

Does anyone have any ideas on how i can stay warm in my house? My husband won’t run the central heat because he thinks its not eco friendly so all he will run is a small wood burning stove in the living room. it was 46 degrees in my living room today. i live in florida but it still gets pretty chilly. i already dress in layers of thermals and fleece sweatpants. oh and i’m not allowed to run the electric space or radiator heaters except at night in the bedroom when we sleep or when im in the shower or changing clothes. before you freak out, just know that it can’t be that horrible because i have not gotten sick at all this whole winter, it probably helps that because germs don’t thrive in the cold and i don’t have that thing where you go from hot to cold all the time. please don’t just tell me my husband is crazy, i already know that. and divorce is not an option. just ways to get warm without using electricty. thats all i need. thanks!
yes, he is a student and he walks to school. threats from me about turning on the heat will not work. been there, done that, turns out badly. i just want to keep the peace but stay warm at the same time.

Are you allowed to use the stove or oven in the kitchen? Cook or bake all day, that will warm up the house (or at least you in the kitchen). Vacuuming helps to warm up the place a tiny bit, but the exercise of vacuuming will help to warm you up a little. Open up all the curtains & blinds where the sun is shining in & that will help bring in a little heat too.

Does your husband drive to work every day? If so, tell him to start walking or biking to work, & if he doesn’t you’ll turn the heat up.

without sounding full of myself i’m actually the most popular girl at school, I’m head cheerleader, was runner up in Miss Teen USA a few years ago and they make me do all these pageants

they put so much pressure on me to look good because im representing them

like my mom makes me straighten my hair before i go to school each day, she does my eyebrows, makes me wear a full face of make-up (shes a make up artist so you can imagine), she decides which clothes i should wear like she would prefer it if I wore a sequined mini dress over jeans believe it or not

and on my b’day I wanted an eco friendly car and what the hell do I wake up to find? a HOT PINK convertible i mean, come on..

I was naturally blonde but made to go platinum blonde, i tried to preserve my skin but was told i look better with a tan and was spray tanned against my will

like why cant they accept me? i want my pale skin, i want to wear my jeans & a singlet top, I’d like to drive a car that blends in & instead of being a cheerleader, i’d like to play tennis for my sport, & instead or practicing pouting, walking, etc for pageants i’d like to be with my friends & eat pizza instead of steamed vegetables or salad, who cares about trophys i have enough of them why keep getting more?

Do you know that my mom asked me if i wanted breast implants when I was 16? I’m 17 now and of course I said no…

how can i tell them to give me some space without offending them?

You should be happy they are encouraging you to be as beautiful as possible. My mother was the same way and I love how I turned out.

I think you should be happy your parents want to spoil you so much and don’t want you to be average. I kind of rebelled against my parents when I was 13. I did not want to be a complete girly girl so my mom made me live as a tom boy for a few days. I hated it and she was proved right. I loved being a girly girl and begged her after a few days to let me girly again.

In addition, I think you are ignoring the basic fact that being beautiful is a tremendous asset. Being head cheerleader let me get a free ride in college. Being in beautiful often helps you stand out and be remembered. When I interviewed for my current teaching position, the interviewers said while I was as qualified as anyone else, I stood out and would be a great face for the private school I teach at. Lastly, when it comes to men, being a nice girl is definitely a good needed to get a nice guy, but you are not going to get noticed at first unless you are beautiful.

I Need a Name for an Eco-Friendly Clothing Line?

I’m starting an eco–friendly clothing line, that will use organic cotton etc. I envision it in green text with several modifications like a leaf or so over a vowel etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions for an eco–friendly clothing line name? One worded- is preferred, and it can be in any language as long as it sounds nice and rolls of the tongue with ease 🙂
It’s aimed at 16-25ish year old people like it’s going to begin with graphic tee’s you can say urban clothing but not baggy. It’ll be slim fit and it’s pretty hip. Thank You! 🙂
